PC graphics card maker Sapphire is also known for its range of mini-desktop computers. Adding a new star to the line, the company has now brought to the fore its new Sapphire Edge device that looks promising. Small case, big performance is what the device seems to proclaim. The new mini-desktop computer, christened Sapphire Edge VS8, boasts powerful performance though it has the form factor of a modem.
The quad-core AMD Trinity processor driven Sapphire Edge VS8 houses a 1.6 GHz AMD A8 processor with Radeon HD 7600G graphics. This feature might be well applauded by users who look toward HD video playback and DirectX 11 graphics capabilities.
All of 7.8″ x 7.2″ x 1.2 and weighing just 1.5 pounds, the Edge VS8 comes spruced up with an HDMI port, mini DisplayPort, 2 USB 3.0 ports, 4 USB 2.0 ports, an SD card reader, and audio jacks.
Other specifications include a 500GB 2.5 inch hard drive, 4GB of RAM (with 2 sticks of 2GB memory), and Gigabit Ethernet. On the connectivity department, built-in WiFi and Bluetooth functionalities add to the charm.
Set to ship with FreeDOS, the rig also is capable of running Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8 OS.
We just need to wait to know what Sapphire would write on the price tag just before it starts rolling out. The pricing apart, we think this tiny rig can be an absolute charmer.
